What are parts of speech? definition, types, and examples

We have discussed here definitions of parts of speech or what is parts of speech. 

Definition of Parts of speech

Parts of speech means types of words in a sentence. In a sentence t, here may have a few or lots of words.

  1. There is minimum 1 word in a sentence: Do.
  2. There are 2 words in a sentence: Do it.
  3. There are 3 words in a sentence: You do it.
  4. There are more than 3 words in a sentence: Example:

Mr. Hassan is a good Headmaster who lives in Lalmonirhat and teaches the students English very quickly. Alas! Last year he died.

Here in the above sentence, we get that

Mr. Hassan=Noun;

he=Pronoun;

good=Adjective;

teaches=Verb;

quickly=Adverb;

in=Preposition;

And =Conjunction;

Alas= Interjection

 

Parts of speech 8 kinds or types according to their function and meaning.
